Riley, a 13 year old struggling with the loss of their mother discovers a secret to help them not just understand their mom better, but themself as well. With the help of friends Dom and Ezra, Riley takes a journey into their own bravery and the unknown.
 

Kempenfelt Kelly is an original children's musical with opera influences. First debuting in Barrie Ontario at the Simcoe County Theatre Festival in July of 2024. Sabrina Merks (Director, Librettist, Lyricist, Producer and many many other hats) and Alondra Vega-Zaldivar (Composer, Lyricist, Music Director, Role of Kelly and Riley's Mom) worked for over a year to create and rework this piece, and the exciting part is the show isn't even at it's final stage yet. With hopes of extending the show into a full children's opera, Kempenfelt Kelly is a story of resilience.
